Marvin and Iva Jean Long

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Long have observed their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. Long and the former Iva Jean Kunsman were married Oct. 19, 1946, at the Lutheran Church in Albin, Va., by the Rev L. B. Smith. A family dinner was held Oct. 20 at Irene's Family Restaurant, Fishertown.

They are the parents of three children: Linda Wagner, Philipsburg; Joyce Walls, Boalsburg and Bryce, McAlisterville. They have eight grandchildren.

Mr. Long retired from R. J. Glass Inc., Duncansville, in 1989. He is a charter member of Newry Lions Club. Mrs. Long retired from Veeder Root Inc. in 1989. They are both members of Newry Lutheran Church.

Obituary of Iva Jean Long

Mrs. Iva Jean Long, 72, 609 Poplar Run Road, Duncansville, died Friday morning, Dec. 11, 1998, at her residence. She was born March 23, 1926, in Poplar Run, the daughter of the late William Howard and Anna Myrtle (Aurandt) Kunsman. She married Marvin H. Long Oct. 19, 1946, in Albin, Va. He died May 13, 1998.

Mrs. Long was a member of Newry Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served as Sunday school superintendent and was active in the church education program. She retired from Veeder-Root in 1989, worked for Sylvania during World War II and taught in the Juniata Township schools. Mrs. Long was a 1943 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She was a member of Newry Lions Club Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters: Linda L. Wagner of Philipsburg and Joyce L. Walls of Boalsburg; a son, Bryce M. of McAlisterville; a sister, Verneita Miller of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Elvin H. of Orwigsburg; and

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg, and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Newry Evangelical Lutheran Church.

LONG -- Funeral services for Iva Jean Long will he held at 11 a.m. Monday at Newry Evangelical Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Walter J. Emswiler and the Rev. Brent Book. Interment at Newry Lutheran Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Sorge Funeral Home and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. William Joseph Kunsman. Memorials may be given in Iva Jean's name to the Newry Evangelical Lutheran Church handicapped ramp fund.
