Patrick of Cedarville, MI; and Gail (Hugh Gunn) Bethea of Haslett, MI; grandchildren, Tricia Betheat, Heather Patrick, Derek Patrick, and Melissa Bethea; one great grandchild, Derek Jr. 'DJ'; siblings, Glenn Detgen, Alice Hall, and Jack (Janet) Detgen; and sister-in-law, Audrey Detgen.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Patrick in 1999; infant grandson, Joseph E. Patrick; brothers, Sylvester Detgen, Henry 'Hank' Detgen, Wayne Detgen, and Larry Detgen; and sisters, Marion Detgen, Violet Cleaver, Carol Kestner, and Mary Lou Detgen.
Services will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at R. Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129 in Pickford, Michigan. Visitation will be held from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. with a service beginning at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens in Bruce Township, Michigan. Barbara Ruth Patrick, age 85, of Cedarville, Michigan, and Belleview, Florida, died May 21, 2016, in Lansing, Michigan. She was born August 30, 1930, in Harbor Beach, Michigan, the second of twelve children, six boys and six girls, born to Henry and Tressia (Arntz) Detgen.
Barbara grew up in Harbor Beach and met the love of her life, Charlie Patrick, in Harbor Beach while he was a boarder at her Grandma Arntz’s house. Charlie and Barb were married November 15, 1952, in Toledo, Ohio. This was the first and last time the Patrick family missed the opening day of deer hunting season. Charlie and Barb resided in Rockford, Michigan, where they raised two children, Gary and Gail. In 1980, they retired to Cedarville and became snowbirds, residing in Belleview, Florida, in the winter.
Barbara enjoyed anything to do with her family. She loved when her children and grandchildren could come together and celebrate life. She loved her flowers and watching them grow! She also enjoyed cooking, deer hunting, and completing number fill-in puzzles.
