Hier legd de brave en deuzgaame Cornelis Cuyper in leven oud eopzigter dezer Colonie. Overleeden den 9 Mai, A. 1813, in den ouderdom van 66 jaaren 5 maanden en 18 dagen. Waarvan hy 50 agtereen volgende jaaren de Nederlanche Oost-Indien Compagnie hier in Bengale, met de meeste frouw en yver, gedient heeft. Zyne Assche ruste in Vreeden." ["The epitaph roughly translates to: “Here lies the brave and virtuous Cornelis Cuyper, Overseer of this colony. Died 9th May 1813, at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 18 days. Who for 50 successive years has served the Dutch East India Company here in Bengal with much faith and zeal. His ashes rest in peace
