Born in Driminasalie, Kilmallie, Inverness-shire, Scotland. Died at Chinsurah of Cholera

Son of Donald (c.1742/44-1817) and Catherine Cameron (born c.1781).

Married Charlotte Euphemia (June 27, 1779-1803), later Mary MacDonnell and then Luduvina Rosa Da Silva.

Father of Donald Meeut, Charles Duncan, Charlotte, Julian, Luduvina Catharina and Ewen Wallace (among others).

Lieutenant Colonel in His Majesty's 3-d Regt. of Foot (or Buffs). Commandant/ Supervisor of Convicts. British Defence Forces Personnel

After his wife's death Cameron married Luduvina Rosa Da Silva, a nobleman's daughter, in Portugal in 1812. After his death Luduvina married Captain John Finnis in Sydney in 1832.

Of Luduvina's seven children by Cameron, the eldest daughter, Charlotte (1813-1885) married William Dutton at Sydney in 1831,

Julian married Dr George Bennett of Sydney

Luduvina Catharina (1824-1851) married (Sir) George Kingston in 1841.

The eldest surviving son, Ewen Wallace (1816-1876), was a partner of Thomas Mort, and a founder of the Union Club and Prince Alfred Hospital;

Sacred to the memory of Lieut.-Col. Charles Cameron, Major in His Majesty’s 3-d Regt. of Foot (or Buffs), a brave and distinguished officer; died on the 15th May 1827, aged 48 years. This tablet is erected by his brother-officers as a mark of their esteem.
