Ruby Lane, 98, of Bickmore passed into eternal rest Thursday, May 26, 2016,surrounded by her loving family.

She was the most wonderful mother and grandmother in the world. She took care of her children, when she had to do without and never complained. Born July 17, 1917 in Clay, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Annie Brown. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Everett Lane; son Ronald M Lane; three sisters; one brother; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was the last living charter member of Bickmore Baptist Church. She lived a dedicated Christian life. She loved her church family like her own.

Ruby is survived by her children, Ralph (Maxine) Lane, Willie (Connie) Lane, Willard Franklin (Cathy) Lane, Johnny Lane and David Lane all of Bickmore, Becky (Marlin) Pritt, Kathy Gail (Kenneth) Legg, Wilma Jean (and the late Gerald ) Ramsey all of Indore, Wanda (and the late Dorvil) Taylor, Sandra (Rick) Morton of Lizemore, Rachel (Dennis) Walters , Ray (Ann) Lane all of Dixie, Barbara Ann Byrd of Fuquay Varina, N.C., Donna Cooper and Judy (Rev. Thomas) Holt of Tennessee; 51 grandchildren; 112 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; dozens of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, with Rev. Thomas Holt officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery, Bickmore. Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the funeral home.
