William Vance

Funeral services for William Vance, 73, of 16 Whitmore Court, retired railroad engineer, will be conducted, Thursday at the Larkin mortuary, 200 East South Temple street under the direction of B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 85. Burial will take place in the Elks plot in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

Mr. Vance, who died in a local hospital Monday of infirmities incident to age, was born in Illinois, August 11, 1860 He began his career as a railroader in 1870 on the Burlington lines as a fireman. Later he moved to Pocatello, Idaho where he lived for several years. He came to Salt Lake 30 years ago and was retired from the Union Pacific railroad three years ago after 42 years of service

Mr. Vince was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers No 228, Pocatello; the Union Pacific Old Timers Club No. 12, and B.P.O.E. lodge No 85

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Cordell H. Patterson of Los Angeles and Mrs. Clay B. Ogle of Hyannis, Neb., and four grandchildren.
