Debra Jo Garrett, the daughter of Eula Jean (Bowman) and Lyle L. Henry, was born November 21, 1958 at Red Cloud, Nebraska. She departed this life unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska at the age of 57 years, 6 months and 4 days.

Deb grew up on the family farm south of Guide Rock. She received her formal education attending the Guide Rock schools and graduated with the class of 1977. She was employed for a time with the Red Cloud Bowling Alley and also with the Sugar & Spice Drive-In. On September 10, 1983 she was united in marriage with Todd Garrett at Red Cloud and this union was blessed with a son, Levi. They made their home at Superior, Nebraska where Deb worked with Alexander Motors, Inc. They later moved to Doniphan, Nebraska where Deb worked for the Doniphan Cafe, 3-D Investment and Wheelers. For many years Deb was employed with Case I-H where she greatly enjoyed her many co-workers and their customers. In 1996, she moved to Grand Island to live and for the past several years she has worked for Roe Buick.

In the early years of the her marriage she volunteered her time as a scout leader with Levi's troop. Deb had a lifelong love for animals of all types, both wild and domestic. She had the unusual ability to make anything a pet ..... raccoon, birds, rabbits, owls just to name a few. She fondly remembered the years growing up on the farm and the countless adventures shared with her sisters and brothers. Her love and compassion for others was immeasurable and she made a friend with everyone she met. In her leisure time Deb also enjoyed listening to country music, camping and just spending time with her family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Les; and her nephews, Tracy Keen.

Left to treasure her memory are her son, Levi Garrett of Grand Island, Nebraska; sisters, Karen Armstrong and husband Richard of Red Cloud, Nebraska; Wanda Duval of Mesa, Arizona; Lile Keen and husband Allen of New Palestine, Indiana; Lois Gouldie and husband Danny of Franklin, Nebraska and Sheryl Matson of Kansas; a brother, Dallas Henry of Blue Hill, Nebraska; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., June 1, 2016 at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the Rev. Dan Benedict officiating. Interment will be at the Guide Rock Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. to service time.
