David, 74, of Byron, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at McLaren - Flint.
Honoring David's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services were scheduled.
David was a son to Irvin and Emma Jane (McLeod) Root. He attended school in Grand Blanc.
After high school, David enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1959 to being Honorably Discharged in 1962. He married Linda Sue Robinson in Flint on February 6, 1961.
After the service, David worked in sales at the former Flint Pipe & Well and then Water Systems Supply from which he retired.
David loved his grandchildren greatly; he loved being around them more than anything. He was a very special person with a very unique sense of humor and wit. He will be missed by many.
Those surviving include: wife, Linda Sue Root; children, Robert Root of Arizona, Tammy Root (Shawn Colton) of Michigan, Kenneth Root (Kristi Solomon) of Michigan; grandchildren, David Root, Dennis Root, Megan Bodary, Jeremy Root, Timothy Root, Jessica Bodary, Rylee Root-Lupu and Nora Root; great-granddaughters, Destiny and Madison Root; brother, Robert (Nancy) Root; sister, Norma Reigle; several nieces and nephews. Special friend, Pat Root; special girls, Mattie, Peenut and Goofy; lots of friends.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, a sister; and his mother.
