Robin Stewart, age 53 years of Dowagiac, Michigan died peacefully at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 surrounded by his family at his home following an extended illness.
He was born on October 5, 1962 in Niles, Michigan to Lee and Billie Jean (Bowling) Stewart. He attended Niles Community Schools, and then lived in Gaylord, Michigan for thirty years, returning to this area in 2014. He was a trained arborist, and had been employed by several tree services including the William’s A-1 Expert Tree Service in Dowagiac.
Rob attended the Mapleview Free Methodist Church in Niles. He enjoyed playing golf and billiards, and watching NASCAR races – usually cheering for driver #18, Mr. Kyle Bush. Rob also enjoyed working on cars – usually Fords – and had the experience and expertise to successfully complete total rebuilds. But more than all these, he loved his family, and they loved him.
On November 7, 1981 in Niles he married the former Shelley Ann Motry with whom he celebrated last year the thirty-fifth anniversary of their wedding.
Surviving family includes his wife, Shelley Stewart and their daughters, Ashley (& Chad Ochs) Stewart of Dowagiac and Samantha Stewart of Gaylord; grandchildren Matthew Maddox and Carver Stewart; and many nieces and nephews.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents, and by four brothers and two sisters.
Services for Rob Stewart will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Mapleview Free Methodist Church in Niles with the Rev. Greg Rensberry of the church officiating.
