He was a veteran of the Army and while enlisted, a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion. He was a Third Degree Mason of the Excelsior Lodge #261 and a member of the Shriner's Oasis Temple in Charlotte. He enjoyed deep-sea fishing, bowling and golf with his lifelong buddies and family. One of the youngest persons to receive a N.C. Electrical Contractors license, he subsequently founded and owned Amp Electric in Charlotte.
The family will receive friends and family Saturday, Oct. 25, from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in his honor.
