Mrs. Anna Smith Hoffman, 83, of Constableville, with a direct line of 110 descendants, died Nov. 12 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rosella Larrivey, Boonville, after a long illness.
She was born at Wampsville, July 30, 1876, a daughter of Nicholas and Margaret Smith. She was educated in St. Michael's, Mohawk Hill. She was married to Frank S. Hoffman Aug. 24, 1897, in St Michael’s church, Mohawk Hill.
They bought a farm on Mohawk Hill and operated it for many years. Upon retiring they moved to Constableville where Mr. Hoffman was superintendent of St. Mary's Cemetery for 20 years. He died June 8, 1953.
She leaves four sons, Valentine S. and Claude, of Lowville; Clayton, of Remsen; Edward, of Carthage; six daughters, Mrs. John (Isabel) Burkhart, Oneida; Mrs. Edward (Lorena) Walsh, Constableville; Mrs. Frederick (June) Loveland, Binghamton; Mrs. Ira (Dorothy) Goodhines, West Leyden; Mrs. Lawrence (Dora) Keener, Lowville and Mrs. Larrivey; 68 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Kirsch and Mrs. Laurence Richter, both of Syracuse; two brothers, Herman and Edward Smith, both of Syracuse.
