Mary S. Kinnard, 84, of Hurricane died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at Broadmore Assisted Living. Born Oct. 12, 1922, in Hurricane, Mary was the daughter of the late Cyrus and Evalina Woodard Sowards. She was preceded in death by a sister and seven brothers. Mary was the widow of Dallas McClain Kinnard, her loving husband of 32 years. She was a member of Hurricane Apostolic Church. Mary retired from Jackson General Hospital in 1987. A 1940 graduate of Hurricane High School, Mary enjoyed serving on the 50th reunion committee in 1990. Surviving: daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ned Donalson of Port Royal, Va.; grandchildren and their spouses, Kyra and Robert Hunter of Huntersville, N.C., and Christopher and Jenifer Donalson of Charlottesville, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Lauren and Ryan Hunter and Mia, Wade and Trevor Donalson; special nieces and nephews and their spouses, Loring and Doris Sowards, Phyllis and Sidney Warner, Kathy and Gary Erwin, Steve and Marci Sowards, David and Sherry Sowards, Scot and Sherry Sowards, Jackie and Greg Gilberto, Shirley and Howard Welker, Frank and Reba Sowards, Delmar and Marcella Sowards, Greg and Patty Sowards, Darlene Starner, Betty and Clarence Setliff and Shirley and John Novotny; and a host of others. Mary's greatest joys in life were her relationship with her Lord, family and friends, her beloved puppy, Mitzi, her home and flowers, her quilting, her reading and word puzzles and her travels. She will be deeply missed and memories of her cherished by all those who were touched by her love and caring. The family wishes to express special thanks to the caring staff at Broadmore, to HospiceCare caregivers and to her special neighbors, the Wyatts, the Heltons, the Griffins and the Marshalls. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Chapman Funeral Home, 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, with Pastor Doug Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Culloden Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, 5455 N.
