Barbara Ann Bennett was born on August 20th, 1947 in Creston, Iowa to Leola Mae & Alden Bennett. She was the middle child of three girls, Diane Staley, who is in heaven, and her sister Catherine Bennett (Husband, Graham Cook) who helped care for her after her brain stem stroke in November 2015. Barbara entered heaven on Tuesday, May 24th, 2016. As the morning sun was dawning, she passed in her sleep.
Barbara lived a humble life and left this world with very few worldly possessions, but she couldn't have been more rich in heart.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and an example in selflessness. She had a gentle spirit and a kind heart and left behind lessons that will live on in the hearts of her family. Barbara graduated from Winterset High School and later from Drake College. She taught special needs children at Ruby Van Meter School in Des Moines for 25 years. She took pride in what she did, and she was good at it. Her biggest adventure was living in Germany with her first husband, Mark White (Montessa's dad).
Barbara was funny and beautiful and smart and will be missed greatly by those who love her. Barbara's Celebration of Life will be at the Botanical Center in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, June 11th from 2 to 4 pm.
