Rita B. Babinski, a retired Omark Industries employee, died of cancer Friday at her Lewiston home. She was 75.

She was born Jan. 8, 1922, at Colton to Theodore and Mary Strong Kirpes, and graduated from Colton High School in 1940.

She married Sylvester J. Babinski May 10, 1949, at Colton. In 1950 they moved to Lewiston, where he was employed in the Pulp and Paper Division of Potlatch Forests Inc. In 1966 she was hired as a machine technician at Omark Industries at Lewiston (now Blount Inc.). She retired in 1985.

Her husband died Oct. 26, 1986.

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at Lewiston, the Women of Lourdes, the Lewiston Eagles Auxiliary and was a volunteer for Interlink of Lewiston.

Babinski enjoyed flower gardening, dancing and traveling. Her companion was George E. Minden of Lewiston.

She is survived by one son, Daniel J. Babinski of Clarkston; one daughter, Gayle M. Severance of Lewiston; one sister, Gerry R. Kirpes of Lewiston; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Harold Kirpes; and one sister, Mildred Dahmen.

A vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home at Lewiston. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. The Rev. James R. Wilson will officiate.

Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Gall's Cemetery at Colton.
