Irene Hamrick Michael, 92, of Stanley, passed away at Stanley Total Living Center on Friday March 11, 2016 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Cramerton, NC, daughter of the late Elam Norris and Emma Lee Hamrick. She was reared in the Presbyterian faith and was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Cramerton. Irene was a homemaker and loved sports, especially golf.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband George Martin “Mike” Michael, a daughter Mickey Michael Stimpson. Two brothers and six sisters; Horace and Glen Hamrick Edna Sewell, Ollie Brendle, Ivera Andrews, Dorothy Burgess, Rachel Barfield and her twin sister Evelyn Giles.
She is survived by her daughter Sandra Michael Jumper and husband Ray. One grandson Clarence Michael Stimpson and wife Jennifer, two great grandchildren Callie and Gracie Stimpson and son in law Clarence Turner Stimpson.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the Stanley Total Living Center for the love and care they showed Irene. A private family graveside service will be conducted at 3:00pm Sunday March 13, 2016 at Pineview Cemetery with Rev. Gary Rankin officiating. Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly, NC is serving the family.
