Funeral Liturgy for Lawrence Edward Russell, 88, New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 27, at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany, with entombment in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. He passed away peacefully at Kindred Transitional Care on May 24, 2016.

He was a native of Cloverport, Ky. but resided in New Albany much of his life. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Lawrence retired from DuPont Chemical Company after 32 years and then was employed by Moore Security. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post 28.

Survivors include his cousin, Juanita Green; nieces, Evelyn Weathers, Dorothy Diggs, and Virginia Hickerson; nephew, Larry Weathers; several great nieces and nephews; and many devoted longtime friends.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Russell; wife, Eva Russell; and cousin, Rev. Walter Shawler.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff at Kindred for their services.
