"Lucinda Pomeroy, the eldest [child of Oren and Lucinda Pomeroy], early became the object of her mother's educational beliefs and enthusiasms. At the age of four she read the Bible readily, and at seven she was enrolled as a student at the select school in the Center. She was a graduate in the third class of Mount Holyoke Seminary, which had been established a few years before by Mary Lyon. She died July 17, 1895."
