On July 25, 1939 Kathryn Lois Tilk entered this world, the daughter of Frank Tilk and Helen (Plake) Tilk.

She joined her two older brothers Frankie and Pat, and later was no longer the youngest of the Tilk children when her little brother Mike was born.

Years later Kathryn met her soul mate Gene Brewer and they were married November 3, 1965. Gene and Kathryn raised two daughters, Ann and Sheila.

Completing her circle of life Kathryn passed away at her home, which is the same she grew up in, on May 23, 2016 at the age of 76 years, 9 months and 28 days.

Later in life she started to work at South Iron School through the Green Thumb Program in the copy room. She loved her job and getting to see not just some of the grandchildren but all the children and teachers.

Kathryn had recently rededicated her life to the Lord and was of the Baptist faith. She was a homemaker for many years and loved to garden, read books, do word puzzles and although she wouldn't eat them, loved to fish. Above all, Kathryn loved her family and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Frank and Helen Tilk and two brothers, Mike and Pat Tilk.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Gene Brewer, of Annapolis, two daughters, Ann Ruble, of Annapolis, Sheila Nelson and her husband Glen, of Silva, one brother, Frankie Tilk and his wife Peggy, of Piedmont.

Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Michael Ruble and his fiancee Tricia Littrell, Kenny Ruble and his wife Nicci, Stephanie Ruble and her fiancee Dave Zollo, Leann Willis and her significant other Derek, Amber Nelson and Christina Nelson; 13 great grandchildren, Lily, Lane, Lizzie, Lexi, Kota, Brittany, CJ, Kalyn, Brendan, Braden, Blake, Audrey and Clara; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel in Piedmont. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dan Pitchers officiating.

Interment will be in the Annapolis Cemetery.
