Audrey Simmons Armstrong, 60 of Cumming passed away peacefully Sunday, May 22, 2016, at her residence with her family by her side. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at North Lanier Baptist Church in Cumming with the Rev. John Lay officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 24, 2016, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 26, 2016, from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Born September 28, 1955, Mrs. Armstrong was the daughter of the late John William Simmons and Billie Jean Wiley Simmons. She was also preceded in death by a brother, David Allan Simmons; and her father in law, J. Billy Hipp.

She was a member of First Redeemer Church in Cumming and a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who loved to spend time with her family and friends and hosting parties. She was employed by Renasant Bank, where she was a Senior Mortgage Banker. She was a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and has received numerous awards in the Mortgage Banking Industry.

Audrey is survived by her husband, Joel Crawford Hipp of Cumming; a daughter and son in law, Alicia Rose and Matthew Dennison Brooks of Johns Creek; a grandson, Preston Eugene Brooks of Johns Creek; two step-daughters, Merry Hunter Hipp of Macon and Palmer Kathleen Hipp of Macon; a sister and brother in law, Sabina and John Silvoy of Ocala, Florida; a brother and sister in law, John William and Diane Simmons of Tifton; a sister and brother in law, April and Lee Collins of Statham; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Carrie Simmons of Ocilla and Julie and Gregory Sill of Spartanburg, South Carolina; her mother in law, Doris Miller Hipp of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society (www.Cancer.org) or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org).
