Charles T. Acker, 93, of Morristown, TN., went to be with The Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Life Care Center.
He was born on January 16, 1923, and raised in Bedford, PA. He was the son of the late Clyde and Myrtle Mock Acker.
Mr. Acker was a veteran of World War II and proudly served with the 194th Platoon of the United States Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946. He was involved with extensive combat in the South Pacific Islands. He later moved to Tennessee in 1962.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul, Glen, Joe and Lee; and his sister, Evelyn Acker.
He is survived by his wife, Carroll (Kinnick) Acker; a daughter, Janet Brooks and husband, Mack, Knoxville, TN.; two grandchildren, John Brooks, Seymour,TN., and Lisa Michel, Asheville, N. C. ; and two great-grandsons, Alex and Aidan Brooks; a sister, Marie McBride, Hollidaysburg, PA.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 1 to 3 p.m. with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home with Pastor Kurtis Knobel officiating. Interment will be held at the Imler Cemtery.
