Gene Leonard Dunbar of Boerne, Tx passed away May 20,2016. Gene was preceded in death by his son, Tracy in 2005 and survived by his wife of 55 years, Connie Dunbar, daughter Kimberly Dunbar Stewart, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and hundreds of 4H kids across the state.

Gene retired from Bank of America as Senior Vice President-National Manager of Specialty Assets-Farm and Ranch in March, 2011. He was named Man of the Year in Agriculture by Governor Dolph Briscoe, President of the Bankers Association Trust Group, Faculty, Southwest Graduate School of Banking at SMU where he was known for using a barbed wire pointer to "offset the tassels on these Italian shoes my wife makes me wear."
He was Director of the Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show in Fort Worth, Livestock Judge at all the major Texas stock shows, county shows and fairs and numerous out of state major shows.

In addition Gene was A Member of Governor's Committee to Make Texas Number 1 in Agriculture, Texas Society of Range Management, American Texas Societies for Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, Executive Committee, Tarrant County Program Building Committee, Advisor, Tarrant County Junior College – Agriculture Curriculum, Chairman, Tarrant County Agribusiness Committee, Member and Past President, Fort Worth Farm and Ranch Club, Sheep Superintendent, Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, Director, 7th Generation Community Services Corporation, YMCA Board, South Texas Farm and Ranch, Agrifood Education Council, Bexar County Extension Office, American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, and Texas Agrilife Extension Service.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.

Service on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 205 James St., Boerne, TX.

Interment in Sisterdale Cemetery.
