Mrs. Mungie (Laura) Carlson, 85, well known and highly esteemed former resident of rural Maple Park, died Wednesday morning at a hospital in Hayward, Wis., following an extended period of failing health. She had been residing with her son, Claude, at Hayward, since leaving the home farm. Another son, Arthur, survives. He had operated the Carlson farm until it was sold.

Her body is being brought to Sycamore and will rest at the Van Natta Funeral Home until time of services, which is not known at this writing.

Impressive final services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock for the family at the Van Natta Funeral Home and later, at 2 o'clock from the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church for Mrs. Laura V. Carlson, 85, former esteemed and well known resident of Sycamore and Richardson, who passed away Wednesday in a hospital at Hayward, Wis. She had been in failing health for some time. Pastor Eric Hawkins officiated at the services and burial was in the Elmwood cemetery.

She was born Sept. 17, 1875 in Manstad Elfsborgs Lan Westergotland, Sweden, the daughter of Peter and Emma Anderson Kallman. She received her education in Sweden, where she was also baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, of which she was a lifelong member. She came to the States at the age of 19 years, locating first in Sandwich, then moving to Sycamore. On June 20, 1900, she was married in Geneva to Sven Magne Carlson. They moved to a farm in Richardson, where she resided for over 60 years. Mr. Carlson died in 1946.

She is survived by two sons, Claude A. of Hayward, Wis., with whom, she had been residing for some time, and Arthur E. of Maple Park; six grandchildren; and one sister in Sweden.
