Arthur D. Lester, a longtime resident of Fort Worth, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at the home of his eldest son, Bill. He passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. He fought a short, but courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Lester, the oldest of seven children, was born Jan. 31, 1914, to Joseph E. and Elizabeth Scott Lester in Prentiss County, Mississippi.

He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, serving as an elder and teacher for over 50 years. He made it his goal in life to tell all whom he came in contact with about God's Kingdom and the benefits it would bring them. He also loved gardening, hunting and traveling. One of his favorite places to travel to was Gatlinburg, Tenn. He also loved to dance. It was one of his most precious activities. He would always have a full dance card. He could dance any kind of dance there was. He always had a story to tell. He had great love for all his family.

Mr. Lester married Louise, the love of his life, in 1938. They moved to Fort Worth in 1955. They were married for 63 years before she passed away in 2001. He worked in the automotive glass industry for 29 years before retiring more than 30 years ago. Mr. Lester and his wife, Louise, ran Broadway Grocery store in Fort Worth for many years. They made "The Best Hamburgers" in town.

He will be greatly missed.

His wife, Virginia Louise; father, Joseph Euke; and mother, Elizabeth Scott, preceded him in death.
