Arthur was born March 26, 1951 in Richlands, VA and was the son of the late Murry W. and Gaynell Cole Lawson. He was a class of 1969 graduate of Whitewood High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War Era. Arthur was a retired coal truck driver and a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the UMWA and the American Legion Post #0164. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed gardening. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant sister, Tonya Lawson.

Funeral services for Arthur “Lucky” Lawson will be conducted Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 11am at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with the Bro. Jerry Honaker and Rev. Troy Lester officiating. Interment will follow at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, VA. Members of the Casey-Shortt VFW Post #9640 will conduct military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be: Brian Cooke, Keith Smith, Joseph Smith, Terry Keen, Keith Reed, and Dennis Cooper. Honorary Pallbearers will be: William (Dick) Lester, Danny Mullins, Carter Brown, John Taylor, Dr. M. Javed, John Ray Hobbs, and the Staff of the Merit Medical Group.
