Hastings resident, Anita J. Pettit, 79, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Graveside Services will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016; 1:30 P.M. in Eaton Cemetery, Heartwell with Elder Calvin Alberts officiating. The family requests casual attire for those attending the service. Memorials may be given to the family. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Anita was born January 24, 1937 in Heartwell, Nebraska to Cyrus & Josephine (Torske) McPherson. She graduated from Kenesaw High School. Anita married Charles Pettit on April 23, 1955; he preceded her in death on July 12, 1998. She was employed as a site manager at Goldbeck Towers for Adams County Senior Services; retiring in 2006. Anita was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, and past member of American Legion Auxiliary.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Pettit; five brothers, Hugh McPherson, John McPherson, Richard McPherson, Bobby McPherson, infant brother Darrel McPherson; three sisters, Sandra Martinez, Gloria “Katy” Schneider, and Mary Brown; and grandchild, David Freasier.
