Mike was a 2006 graduate of Methuen High School, where he had much success as a hockey player and was a standout volleyball player. He also attended University of Massachusetts Lowell. Mike was an avid snowboarder and skateboarder and worked for many years at NOTB in Salem, N.H. He enjoyed anything and everything that involved the outdoors. He was most proud of being an Infantry Soldier in the U.S. Army as part of the 1/26 Infantry- Blue Spaders. During his deployment, Mike was diagnosed with Stage IV lymphoma. Knowing he would be chemically dependent, Mike began a long battle, with numerous rounds of experimental chemotherapy at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Md. It was then that he would begin his struggle with addiction as a patient in a clinical trial.
Besides his parents he is survived by his sister, Kate Quinlan and her husband, Jamie Perocchi of Salem, N.H., his paternal grandparents, Daniel M. and Joan Quinlan of North Andover, his aunts and uncles, Ann and John Johnson of Andover, and Barbara Cunningham of Meredith, N.H., James and Amy Quinlan of North Andover, and Timothy and Stephany Quinlan of Haverhill. He also leaves many cousins and countless good friends. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, May 24, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, May 25, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Parish, 196 Main St., North Andover. Burial to follow at Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover.
