Russell Charles Patterson was born October 15, 1909 on a farm near Lucas, Iowa and died February 11, 1999. He was the son of JOhn and Florence Mae Caviness Patterson.
He attended school in Lucas County.
On April 15, 1930 he was married to Sadie Ellen Pennington. They lived and farmed south of Lucas for 69 years. To this union one son was born, Junior Lewis.
Russell enjoyed going to sales, meeting and talking to people. He never met a stranger. One thing he loved most was taking a chain saw or lawn mower engine apart to discover why it didn't work, repairing it and hearing it run again. People came from miles around to have him repair their small engines.
He especially loved his family. He eyes always brightened when his grandchildren and great grandchildren arrived.
Survivors include his wife Sadie of 69 years; son Junior and wife Theresa of Lucas; granddaughter Becky and husband Dan Allen of Lucas; grandson Bruce and wife Marsha of Russell; two great granddaughters, Emily Allen of Sewal and Katie Allen of Cedar Falls; and two great grandsons, Cale Patterson of Russell and Jared Patterson and fiancee Amber Powers of Chariton; also three sisters, Ramona Dixon and husband John of Orient, Lila Scadden of Greenfield and Doris Addison and husband Clay of San Fernando, California.
