William Graham Duncan IV, 77, Cardinal Drive, died at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at his home following a long illness.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Anthony Barta and the Rev. Charlie Evans officiating.

The body was cremated.

Hughart and Beard Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Hopkinsville, he was born Dec. 9, 1935, the son of the late William Graham Duncan III and Elizabeth Fort Duncan.

He was a farmer for many years and operated an aviation business in Clarksville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, in which he served in various capacities. He was a long-time choir member and taught Sunday school classes.

He was a member and past president of the Anthenaeum Society and the Church Hill Community Club. He was a member of the Christian County Historical Society, Friends of the Library, a former Rotarian and member of the Rotary Student Loan Committee and a member of the Red Cross Board of Directors.

He was active for a number of years in the local Republican party, serving as precinct committeeman, county chairman and first district chairman. He managed successful campaigns locally for the late Sen. John Sherman Cooper and the late Gov. Louie B. Nunn and was a state chairman for the successful 1972 campaign of the late President Richard M. Nixon. He served as a member of the Kentucky Council on Public Higher Education during the tenure of Governor Nunn.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Major Duncan; his sons, William Graham (Kelly) Duncan V, Owensboro, and Chaplain Lt. Col. Rives Major (Jan) Duncan, Colorado Springs, Colo.; his daughter, Mrs. David (Andrea Duncan) Craft, Lakewood, Colo.; eight grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.
