Michael was born June 11, 1954 in Steubenville, the son of Joseph J. Shimko and Frances Hoge Shimko. Surviving, are two brothers, Joseph and John G.; two sisters, Cynthia and Barbara. His maternal grandparents were James and Lydia Pierson Hoge. Paternal grandparents were George and Bertha Shimko.
He was member of the Holy Name Cathedral where a funeral high mass was celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Monday, August 12, 1974 with Rev. Fr. James B. Nugent, Celebrant. Burial was at Kadesh Chapel Cemetery, Beech Bottom, WV.
