Grover Nathaniel Bailey was born in Lawrence Co., Tennessee, the seventh child of John Nelson "Pat" Bailey and his wife, Mary Helen Flippo. He was the paternal grandson of William Booker and Mary Jane Nelson Bailey and the maternal grandson of Nathaniel and Lucy Jane White Flippo.

Grover was a Veteran of WWI, a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church and a retired farmer. On 22 Aug 1920, Grover married his first wife, Fannie Belew, in Lawrence Co., Tennessee. They were the parents of one son, Luke Nathaniel Bailey.

Grover's second wife was Glenna Bundrant, a native of Wayne Co., Tennessee and the daughter of William Dallas and his wife, Fannie Huckaba Bundrant. Grover and Glenna had no children of their own.

Sometime after Glenna's death in 1960, Grover married Lela Mae Camron Dye. Lela was the mother of three sons, Arelus, Charley and Wayne Dye from her first marriage who joined the Grover Bailey family. Lela Mae was still living when Grover passed away in 1978.

Grover Nathaniel Bailey died Saturday, Oct. 7, 1978 at his home on Eighth Street in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. He was eighty-seven years of age at the time of his death.
