Rose Katherine Huber, 94, of Gettysburg, died Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Oahe Manor in Gettysburg, SD where she was an assisted living resident of seven years and the manor for three years.
Rose Katherine Kaiser was born in Hoven, South Dakota, July 11, 1912 to Peter & Gertrude (Arbach) Kaiser, being one of eight children. She attended Saint Anthony's Catholic School and later went on to cosmetology school.
On February 22, 1934 Rose married Leo P. Huber and together they moved to Gettysburg, SD where they lived for several years, managing a café. Upon returning to Hoven, she worked as a local beautician for many years.
Rose loved sewing and gardening. She especially lover her flowers and always tended to a huge strawberry patch.
She is survived by one daughter: Mary L. (Marc) Selvig of Riverton, WY; two grandsons: Daniel Selvig of Casper, WY and David Andrew (Sada) Selvig of Riverton, WY; one great grandson: Tanner Selvig of Riverton, WY; two brothers: Tom (Viola) Kaiser of Denver, CO and Robert (Lena) Kaiser of Pierre; one sister-in-law: Amanda Kaiser of Highmore; one brother-in-law: Charles (Sandy) Huber of Sioux Falls; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Huber; one son, Robert Huber; her parents, Peter and Gertrude Kaiser; four brothers; Frank, Johnny, Leo and Ivan and one sister, Frances Gross.
Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gettysburg with Father Mark Axtmann officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Hoven.
