Joy Ruth Brooks, went to be with her Lord on May 20, 2016.

She was born Oct. 8, 1925, at Cherokee, Oklahoma to Rupert and Lillian (Dymond) Jenlink of Jet, Oklahoma.

She graduated from high school at Jet, Oklahoma as Salutatorian of her class. She participated in music throughout her school years. She continued to share her music and her voice thru her entire life, often singing in church, choirs and funerals. She would sit at the piano and play and sing for her family.

She was a member of the Cunningham Christian Church and the Brooksville Christian Church, Brooksville, Florida.

On Oct. 10, 1943, she married Milton Brooks of Blackshear, Georgia. An Army Air Corpman stationed at the Salt Plains in Jet, Oklahoma. They said it would never last, this Oklahoma girl and this Georgia man, but they were married for 71 years before he preceded her in death in Oct. 2014.

She is survived by her son Jerry Lynn and his wife Vicki, Cunningham; daughter Joyce Gridley and her husband Lowell, Cunningham; grandchildren Lori (Richard) Vallejo, Jeremy (Angel) Brooks, Kevin (Shelly) Brooks, Steve (Traci) Gridley and Susan (Steve) Ward; 14 great-grandsons; 3 great-granddaughters; and 1 great-great granddaughter. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her sister and brother-in-law Eva and Ralph Rive.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Memorials may be made with the Milton and Joy Brooks Teaching Scholarship Fund, in care of Livingston Funeral Home, Kingman, Kansas.
