80 yrs∼Born about 1792, died age 81, according to his gravestone. Husband of Mary Yardley. Father of Rose Gear, who married Alfred Latimer. Also father of Emily, Gertrude and Grace Gear. The Rev. Dr. Ezekiel Gilbert Gear was an Episcopal minister and was Chaplain at Fort Snelling from 1838 to 1858.

This Is A Multi-Sided Monument That Also Contains The Names Of Rose Gear And Mary Yardley. There Are Stones In The Ground Near-by That Appear To Be A Part Of This Plot With The Names Grace, Father, Mother, And Emilie.

East view • This is the oldest section in the cemetery founded in 1871. Jo Pond, the 8-acre artificial cemetery lake, is visible in the distance in the upper left quad. Section 3 is across the road.

W view • Gear family monument in the LL • Bde Maka Ska (formerly Lake Calhoun) beyond the treeline in the UR quad. Section 2 is the oldest section in the cemetery. Maggie Menzel's funeral in 1872 was the first here. Her grave is a lot up to the left.
