Mary Eleanor Comes was born on November 4, 1903, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John Theodore Comes and Nora Webber Comes.


She earned a Master of Arts degree in French from the University of Pittsburgh in 1934. She married James. M. Maloney and moved to Washington D.C.


Mary served as a secretary at the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the United States.


Mary Eleanor Maloney passed away on January 11, 2000, in Duluth, Minnesota, at the age of 96. She is survived by her sisters, Marcella Rodange Winslow and Alice Honora Cloran. She was predeceased by her parents.
