She was born May 13, 1915 in Sugarcreek, Ohio to Alvin and Verna Alpeter. She left home as a traveling magazine sales lady, visiting all but 7 states.
During WWII she worked in a factory for the war effort in Michigan, and did her first parachute jump there (and her first airplane ride). She moved to Altadena, California, and met her husband, Ralph, who also did parachute jumps and other stunts with planes.
Grace was very proud of their daughter, Pat, of Santa Rosa who is married to Guy Conner. Pat has been a Santa Rosa City Councilmember, a State Assemblywoman, and is expected to be in the State Senate next year.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, her half-brothers and half-sisters Frank, Al, Vernon, Anna Troyer, and Edith Shonk, and her dear sister, Forest Burris.
She is survived by her sister Helen Shell, and brother Eugene. She has many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly.
