Linda Kay Billhimer Lutz, 70, of Henry VA formerly of Penn Laird for 32 years, passed peacefully in her home in the arms of God with no pain on May 19, 2016 with her loved ones by her side. She was born on April 11, 1946 in Arlington, VA to the late Rush Billhimer and Martha Whetzel Billhimer.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Linda graduated from Broadway High School and went on to work as a housekeeper/supervisor at James Madison University where she retired after 20 years of service. She later returned to work part time at Harrisonburg Health and Rehab. She loved and attended Covenant Presbyterian Church of Harrisonburg where she became a member of the “staying the course” home group and made many lifelong friends.
On March 8, 1984 she married her husband Charles Wesley Lutz of Henry, VA, formerly of Penn Laird, VA for 32 years, who survives, whom she loved to go camping and traveling with. She was also very talented at arts and crafts, crocheting and enjoyed making things for her friends. She gave away close to 40 homemade afghans to family and close friends.
She is survived by her daughter Theresa “Twink” Whetzel and husband, Byron and grandchildren Bryce and Brynn of Broadway, VA.; step-children Charles “Bubba” Lutz and wife Selena of Elkton, VA and Elnora “Ellie” Johnson and husband, Ronnie of Henry, VA.; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren; brother, Nelson Billhimer and wife, Jane of Grottoes, VA; loving sister in law, Midge Boyd of Egg Harbor, NJ and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg at 11 am on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 with Pastor Joe Slater and Pastor Tim Frost officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday evening at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Reformed University Fellowship at JMU found at www.jmuruf.org in the name of Pastor Joe Slater.
