LARGO, FL.- Robert H. Arlequeeuw, of Largo, Florida and formerly of Bellingham, MA, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2007 surrounded by his loved ones.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Helen (Gregoire) Arlequeeuw.
Bob was born in Woonsocket, RI, the son of the late Raymond and Irene (Fox) Arlequeeuw.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 - 1955 and was a Korean War veteran as an engineer aboard the USS Catamount. He was an accomplished oil painter as well as enjoying creating beautiful mosaics for his family. Daily walks and play time with four grandchildren and four great grandchildren were some of his greatest pleasures. He especially enjoyed cooking with his daughter and took great pride in his gardening accomplishments. Bob was a champion shuffleboard player, as well as a lover of ballroom dancing.
Besides his wife, Bob is survived by three children, Dreux R. Arlequeeuw of Seekonk, MA, Lisa E. Cousineau of North Smithfield, RI and Steven R. Arlequeeuw of Blackstone, MA and was the father of the late Laurie A. Arlequeeuw. He also leaves a sister, Dorothy A. O'Keefe of Harrisville, RI; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Lillian M.L. Benjamin (Arlequeeuw), and Raymond G. Arlequeeuw.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 9am from the O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint John The Evangelist Church, Church Street, North Smithfield.
Burial will be private.
Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours in the funeral home, Wednesday 2-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care of RI, 169 George Street, Pawtucket, RI, 02860, would be appreciated.
