UNION - Preston Eugene "Slim" Sanders Jr., 61, of 314 Seigler Road died Oct. 18, 1997, in Wallace Thomson Hospital after a brief illness.

A native of Jonesville, he was a son of Mae Ola Ivey Sanders of Jonesville and the late Preston Eugene Sanders Sr.

He was a member of the Gilead Baptist Church. He was retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing Plant.

Survivors also include his wife, Pauline Mease Sanders; a daughter, Lori S. Rice of Union; two sons, Timothy Eugene "Timmy" Sanders and Monty Sanders of Union; three brothers, Richard H. Sanders Sr. of Jonesville, Lewis T. Sanders of Northport, Ala., and Henry P. Sanders of Charleston; and five granddaughters.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Gilead Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Terry Candler. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.

The family is at the home of his brother, Richard H. Sanders Sr., 1662 Jonesville Highway, Jonesville.

Memorials may be made to the Gilead Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 38, Jonesville, 29353.
