Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Mae Queen, age 81, of Ashland, will be Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland with the Reverend Kenneth Fuller and the Reverend John Luckie officiating.
Burial will follow in the Smyrna Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Goodwater.
Mrs. Queen passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at the Clay County Nursing Home.
A native and life-long resident of Clay County, Mrs. Queen had been a seamstress at Higgins Manufacturing and then a nurse's aide and housekeeper at the Clay County Nursing Home. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Methodist Church in Bluff Springs.
Mrs. Queen is survived by one step-son, Randy Queen (Michelle) of Georgia; five sisters: Elizabeth Burrell of Talladega, Callie Maddox of Ashland, Eva Hudson of Roanoke, Margaret Roland of Ashland and Heidi Roland (Lee) of Demopolis; three brothers: Samuel Brown of Alexander City, Karmitt Brown and Robert Brown (Madura) of Ashland; one half-sister, Helen Carpenter of Ashland; 3 step-grandchildren: Christopher, Stephanie and Jennifer; 2 step-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Queen was preceded in death by her parents: James Robert Brown and Mattie Lee Jones Brown; and her husband, James F. "Charlie" Queen.
Pallbearers will be Steve Brown, Jackie Brown, Johnny Mac Brown, Roger Brown, Tony Delia, Christopher Lacey, Ronnie Lacey, and Randy Queen.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of the Clay County Nursing Home.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Friday, June 22, 2012, from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. and until service time Saturday morning.
