Dwight G. Altvater, 74, of Carey, died May 19, 2016 at his residence. He was born December 19, 1941 in Bucyrus, OH, to the late Glenn F. and Martha R. (Passet) Altvater. He married Shirley L. Frisch February 1, 1964 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kirby, and she survives in Carey. He is also survived by his sons, Kyle A. Altvater of Carey, and Dustin (Kittie) Altvater of Sycamore. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Altvater. He graduated from Wharton High School in 1959, and was a life long Wyandot County farmer. He served his community as a Crawford Township Trustee, and served on the U.S. Commission Company Board of Directors. He was a member of the BPOE 83, Wyandot County Young Farmers, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 344 in Carey. Visitation will be held from 2pm to 6pm, May 22, 2016 at STOMBAUGH BATTON FUNERAL HOME in Carey. Funeral services will be held at 11am, May 23, 2016 at the funeral home, with Brother Randy Kin officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Carey. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wyandot Council On Aging or Dorcas Carey Public Library in care of Stombaugh Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St. Carey, OH. 43316.
