He was born February 14, 1926, at Bruno, a son of the late Albert and Loritha Ellis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Crosby Ellis; one son, Clarence E. Ellis; one daughter, Marla L. Workman; one grandson, Jerry D. Ellis; six brothers, Harmon Ellis, Pribble Ellis, Walter Ellis, George Ellis, Mathias Ellis, and Herbert Ellis; five sisters, Bertha Browning, Vicie Belcher, Verdie Simpkins, Vanchie Boggs, and Edith Rose.
Ralph was a WW II Navy veteran, a disabled coal miner, and a member of the Greenville Freewill Baptist Church. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather, who was dearly loved by his family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Trinity Nursing Home of Logan.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the Greenville Freewill Baptist Church at Greenville with Rev. Baxter Toler and Rev. Phillip Grimmett officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 6153 and American Legion Post 103 of Chapmanville and DAV Post 39 of Harts.
Visitation will be held from 6-11 p.m. Saturday at the church and one hour prior to services on Sunday.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
