Son of Michael and was born in PA, but is now New Castle, Delaware.
He married widow Mary (Baily) Stewart.

George Harlan was born 10mo/Dec 4, 1690 at Christiana Hundred, New Castle on Delaware.

George's father, Michael Harlan (abt 1660-1729), first settled in Christiana Hundred where he married Dinah Dixon under Newark/Kennett Mtg held at the home of Valentine Hollingsworth in Newark, New Castle on Delaware which was authorized in March, 1690.
Although his birth is recorded by Kennett Mtg in Chester Co, see below:

In 1682 New Castle County, along with the rest of the surrounding land, was transferred from the Colony of New York to William Penn, who established the Colony of Delaware. It was not Pennsylvania but on the border with Chester Co, PA, in what was early on referred to as the "Lower Counties".

New Castle County was subdivided into 10 hundreds : Brandywine, Christiana, Wilmington, Mill Creek, White Clay Creek, Pencader, New Castle, Red Lion, St. Georges and Appoquinimink.

Some of the first members of the Newark Meeting in Brandywine Hundred lived in Christiana Hundred and regularly attended those meetings until 1687, when George's uncle George Harlan (1650-1714) and others petitioned to have a meeting on the west side of the stream. In 1690 Newark Meeting was established and alternating meetings were held between Newark & Center, both in New Castle Co, DE and Old Kennett Mtg in Chester Co, PA.

A photo volunteer searched the entire cemetery and could not find the grave. They searched the old cemetery within the cemetery walls. Many of the headstones are too weathered, damaged, or missing, which is an apparent problem in this particular cemetery.
