Herman Walker, age 83, passed away on May 17, 2016.
Mr. Walker was born to James Barnett Walker and Carrie Walker on May 10, 1933, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Herman worked many years as a longshoreman in the New Jersey and New York area.
Mr. Walker is preceded in death by his son Gavin, his parents, and all of his brother and sisters.
Herman is survived by his wife Bertha, sons Joseph, Herbie, Stanley, and Rodney; his daughters, Pricilla, Carolyn, Anna, Michelle, Gwendolyn, Kishon, LaKisha, Diane, Debra, Celyn, and Catherine. Herman is also survived by a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, May 27, 2016 from 5-8pm at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00am at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, a visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Entombment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.
