Delmas Jan Caldwell, 79, of Mullens passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Raleigh Center, Daniels.

Born May 27, 1936 at Maben, he was the son of the late Delmas Bernard Caldwell (1907-1977) and Edith Beryl Brown-Caldwell (1911-1984).

Jan was a former employee of the Wyoming County Board of Education where he served as a teacher, coach, and principal and was also a former employee of Southern Community College. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mullens, a member of the Lions Club, and was an avid sports fan and loved Marshall Thundering Herd and the LA Dodgers.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Erma Lane (Deceased).

Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Kevin Caldwell and Christopher Caldwell; three granddaughters, Jana Morrison and her husband, Jared, Allison Powers, and Kristen Caldwell; three great grandchildren, Addison Powers, Ethan Powers, and Dylan Powers and Karson Morrison due in August; and his former spouse, Barbara Lane-Caldwell (B. 1939) whom he married on June 28, 1957 in Alpoca, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1957, Page 68, Application Date: June 24, 1957).

Memorial Service will be 4:00 P.M. Friday, May 20, 2016 at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens with Rev. John J. Rhinehart officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home. In keeping with Jan’s wishes, his body will be cremated and the cremains will be interred at a later date at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
