Samuel Dallas Kelly was the son of James and Rebecca Elizabeth Lindsey Kelly. He was born in Lawrence Co., Tennessee and was killed during the Civil War in Richmond Co., Virginia.
His brother, Ezekiel, was killed in the Civil War also, as was his brother-in-law, William Thomas Crews, who was married to Ezekiel and Daniel's sister, Martha Jane Kelly.
Samuel served in the CSA, 23rd. Regt., TN. Inf., Co. B (also known as Martin's Regt.) under Col. Mathias Martin.
