Eugene Willard Campbell was the son of Stewart and Clara Augusta Dost Campbell. He was a 1945 graduate of Newburg High School. He was a veteran of the US Army.
He was married to Byrna Jean Doud on November 11, 1950 in Newton, Iowa. To this union were born four children; David, Patricia, Michael and Lori. They lived in Grinnell where he owned and operated C & K Transfer for over 65 years.
Gene was a member of the Grinnell Elks, where he was a recipient of Elk of the year, Grinnell Odd Fellows, the Eagles Club and the Lions Club. He was also a member of the Iowa Truckers Association and recognized by the Iowa Transportation Museum in Grinnell. He was very active in the Grinnell Community as a supporter of Grinnell athletic teams and through various business organizations.
Gene was beloved by his family and friends. He was a prominent business person and held strong ethical values. He was considered a good man by many and was not afraid to extend his hand to those in need. He enjoyed bowling and playing fast-pitch softball in his younger years.
