Ladies and Gentlemen of the Patriot Guard Riders, we have been requested to stand for U.S. Air Force Veteran, SSgt Russell C. McDonald, age 89. He served from April 1950 to April 1954 as a gunner. SSgt McDonald earned the Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and the National Defense Service Medal. Please join us as we help support his family, pay our respects, and honor his service to our nation.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Everett Jr.; and sisters Loretta & Dorothy.
Russ grew up and was educated in Ben Lomond, CA.
In 1950, Russ joined the military and served in the Air Force for four years. He served in Korea and earned several medals. U.N. Service Medal, National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After the Military he worked as a machinist, truck driver and a tow truck driver. Between the ages of 80 to 86 years he worked at Walmart.
During his retirement he moved to Condon for 19 + years. He enjoyed gardening and various hobbies before moving to Troutdale to be near the VA Hospital.
He was an Elk member in Condon and in Gresham. He loved airplanes, fishing, music, marching bands, Dixieland, and gospel quartets.
Russ is survived by his wife, Genevieve; daughter, Shawn; and 3 grandchildren. A committal service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon on May 17th, 2016 at 10:15am.
