Rev. Heflin was a United States Army veteran who served during World War II. He pastored five churches in Randolph and Clay Counties in Alabama. Rev. Heflin was a prominent figure in many communities and worked towards positive changes in civil rights for Black residents of Alabama.
Survivors include: his wife of sixty-eight years, daughter, two sons, two sisters, two sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, eleven grandchildren one of whom he and his wife raised, several great and great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Rev. Heflin was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dora Fuller Heflin; three brothers, Ben, John, and Tom Heflin; three sisters, Dolina, Lois and Lema Ruth; and two children, Stoney and Walter Lewis.
Interment location for Rev. Robert Lee Heflin, Sr. is at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, 372 Waller Mill Road, Roanoke, Alabama 36274.
