OBITUARY:
Henry "Bud" Bird, 86, died Nov. 30, 2006, at his home in Princeton.
He was born Nov. 26, 1920, the son of Henry Dean and Lillian (Johannsen) Bird in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He grew up there and attended school there. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
He married Hope Campbell Aug. 9, 1944, in Weymouth, Mass., where they lived until his military service was completed. They moved to Honey Creek, Iowa, and farmed until 1961 when they moved to a farm near Princeton.
He married Marie Herman Dec. 19, 1998 in Princeton.
Survivors include his wife Marie; sons Stephen, Lindwood, David, and Tim; daughters Laura Ingalls, Cherry Espinola, and Donna Muelhbauer; stepchildren Gloria Bromberg, Oliver and Duane Herman, and Marilyn Henrichs; sister Esther Fox; 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Hope; infant children Pauline and Stanton; sisters Margaret Bremholm and Francis Bird; and some grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Dec. 4 at Princeton United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Hair and Elim Care Center chaplain Dan Osborn officiating.
Pallbearers were Jay and Justin Ingalls, Jordan, Caleb and Dustin Bird, and Bill Muelhbauer.
Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Rowlan, Tom Muelhbauer, Wayne Patten, Don Fox and Gordon Negley.
Burial will be at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Princeton.
