Milton J. Davis, 97, died peacefully at home in Summerfield, FL on May 14, 2016. He was born in the Hyde Park section of Scranton, PA in 1918, a graduate of Pratt Institute of Technology, Brooklyn, NY and a World War II veteran.

Mr. Davis served as President of the John F. Davis Company, a family business founded in 1914 by his father. Later in his career, he was the proprietor of “The Castle”, the renowned Scranton historic landmark restaurant until his retirement to Florida in 2001.

As a committee advocate of community service, Mr. Davis was a founding member and first President of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Restaurant Association, a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Masons and Supervisor, Springbrook Township, PA. His devotion to the Greek Orthodox Church garnered him its highest honor of Archon Depoutatos, Order of St. Andrew.

He was an avid traveler, superb cook, devoted husband and friend to many. His love of life and uncommon sense of humor filled the room. He spent many years in Greece as a young man and shared his great love of that country in word and deed.

Mr. Davis is survived by his devoted wife of more than 20 years, the former Patricia Dunning; two daughters, Tina A. Davis (Paul Powers) and Maria D. Adair (Lawrence); son John M. Davis (Mary); two sisters, Cassie J. Carros, Clarks Summit, PA and Dorthea D. Hoimes, Bethlehem, PA. Additionally, he has four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife the former Frances P. Poulos.

In keeping with his wishes, no funeral service will take place. Memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Marion County, P. O. Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478-7400.
